"College is cool"

Due to the fact that it was college week {a couple of weeks ago} at Kase's school, he decided to let me take a few pictures of him before school. He told me a month ago that the first day of school was over so I didn't need to take pictures before school anymore. Since then, I've tried to sneak some in every now and then but mornings are usually off limits. He's more interested in eating his breakfast, watching his shows and is ready to leave the second he sees I have my clothes on. Never mind the fact that I might have my clothes on but w/wet hair and no make-up; in his eyes, clothes are on and it's time to go. He loves school and can't wait to get there. Now if I can figure out a way to bottle up that excitment so it's still around when he's in high school...

Monday was "College is cool" so they wore their sunglasses the entire day. I think that was Kase's favorite day of the week b/c he's all about his cool blue shades. Notice he wanted to match his shirt w/his sunglasses...should I be worried?

On Friday, Kase wore his favorite college jersey and don't you know his daddy was so proud? Mommy wished it were a USC or A&M but since I was born and raised in Texas, I guess a UT jersey is appropriate...for now!

As I was looking at his work from college week and talking about things he learned, he asked me if we were going to move to Austin. I knew exactly where the conversation was going since that's where UT is located but I asked why we would move there. His reply was, "because I'm going to college at Texas University and it's a long ways away". My reply was, "it's actually called the University of Texas sweetie and unfortunately mommy and daddy don't get to move off to college w/you." Conversation over and I had to go to my bedroom to finish looking at all of his work b/c the tears were coming. That day will come too soon and this mommy will be sad so please don't be surprised if you hear our home is on the market Kase's senior year of high school. It's very likely Tony or I got a job transfer and it just so happened to be a little bit closer to our son in college...what a coincidence. Nooooo, we really wouldn't do that but it sure would be tempting. Thank goodness I have 12 years to prepare myself b/c I'm going to need every last day to get ready for it. Can you do me a favor Kase? Slow down and stay little forever and ever. I love you my sweet little bubbe...to the moon and back...and then some!
