healing...

Keller had his 2 week check-up at the orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday and all went well. The fingernail is gradually lifting from the nail bed, which is fine b/c a new one will come in underneath the old one. A little gross but nothing we can't handle. The new X-rays showed the fracture is healing very nicely on it's own and you can already see the new bone being formed. It was actually pretty neat to see. So neat that they gave us our very own copy to have as a keepsake. What a treasure; however, I'm afraid there are going to be more broken bone pictures in Keller's future. He is ALL boy, ALL the time and w/that comes stunts, tricks, and a lot of rambunctious and rowdy moves on his part. The injured thumb slowed him down a bit but after being released from the doctor, he didn't waste any time getting back to his old ways. We pulled into the garage and he was ready to ride his bike. Only this time it wasn't his Deigo trike that he wanted to ride; he was ready to try out Kase's big boy bicycle.
I tried to talk him into starting out on the little bitty bike but he had his heart set on the big one. He hopped on and off he went pedaling his little heart out.
I was already a little emotional {mother nature} so seeing my youngest take off on a bike really brought me to tears.
He was so proud of himself and looked like such a big boy riding down the alley. Kase has now resorted back to the scooter b/c little brother has taken over the bike.
Kase doesn't mind sharing his bike and although that's somewhat unusual at our house; I'm thinking it's b/c a new bigger bike is on his Christmas wish list. He informed us that he's about to be 7 so he needs one w/brakes on the handle bars. I informed him that those don't come w/training wheels so I hope Santa brings some knee and elbow pads b/c I have a feeling we're going to need them!
