Christmas Eve has come and gone and now we’re left wondering where on Earth we’re going to put everything. Grammar and Papa had a house full of gifts for the kids but it took them no time getting down to business. The wrapping paper was off, boxes were opened, parts were assembled and toys {and clothes} were all over the place in less than an hour.
Keller couldn’t wait to wear his new Superman shirt so he did slow down long enough for a wardrobe change.
Despite the hustle and bustle of a busy day, we had a wonderful Christmas Eve. The candlelight church service was amazing, as it always is. Jason Castro sang a Christmas song so that was a special little treat for all of us. Kase’s eyes were as big as melons once he realized who it was. I had my camera and so badly wanted to snap a picture but I knew Tony would never let me live that down. Blog or no blog, pictures at church are forbidden! After church we headed to Maw-Maws to have Christmas w/the Lindeman side of the family. Due to the snow and icy roads, it ended up being a quick trip. You can tell by Keller’s face, the trip home was a little scary for all of us!
By the grace of God, we did finally make it back home safely and spent the rest of the evening at Grammar and Papa’s.
Spending time at their house has always been and continues to be one of the highlights of the holiday season. Many of our childhood traditions are the same but we’re now experiencing them through the eyes of our own children…and oh how magical it is! The sparkle in their eyes, the excitement and anticipation while unwrapping gifts and watching them play together w/their new toys leaves me feeling like a kid all over again…just 10 times better.
I was so proud of the boys and their graciousness throughout the night; they thanked everyone over and over again. Keller even thanked the friendly monster that lives under the ground at my parents for his “really cool remote control monster truck”.
Big Joe always gets us a little something but this year he was feeling pretty generous. I guess the recession doesn’t affect monsters like it does everyone else. He bought Kase a motorized scooter
and mommy a really nice bottle of perfume. Thank you Big Joe {dad}. Speaking of dad, the boys had just as much fun helping him open his presents and were so excited to see he had his very own video game system.
Aunt Bubba, Uncle Larry and Presley didn’t spare any expense and also loaded the boys up w/toys galore….including the Sponge Bob laptop that was on Kase’s Santa list.
He is no longer allowed to watch the show and isn’t really a fan of characters but he’s been asking for it since he saw it in the Toy's-R-Us wish book. Guess he knew exactly who he should ask to get it! Thank you Bubba for being such a great aunt. The boys are so blessed to have you in their lives…and so am I. To my wonderful parents, thank you for the generous gifts and for always making it such a special evening for all of us. Being able to spend Christmas in the same home for the past 34 years is such a blessing to me and one I’ll cherish for a lifetime. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! To my most favorite men, thank you for all my Christmas goodies but more importantly, thank you for being a part of my life 365 days of the year.
That’s the greatest gift I could ever ask for. I love you three forever and ever!
