Basketball season is over and as you can tell, my plan of doing a post for every game didn't work out. I realized after about the 3rd game that my camera was better off staying at home because it only frustrated me at games. The lighting in the gym, user error or a combination of both made for terrible pictures and what's a post w/out pics? So...here's an all in one, very long post about our basketball season with a few crummy pictures thrown in here and there.
Keller played basketball a couple years ago and HATED it so we were a little hesitant to sign him up for another season. His t-ball coach decided to put a team together so we thought we'd give it a shot, not expecting a whole lot from Keller. We knew he'd have fun with his friends and if nothing else, it would be good exercise. Much to our surprise, the season turned out to be quite different.
Keller had an absolute blast and ended up loving the sport. Baseball is still his favorite but basketball is now a close 2nd. He enjoyed playing with his baseball teammates and even made a few new friends...Mr. Social Bug. The boys played nine games, ended the season 9-0 winning every game by an average margin of 29 points! With that said, I guess I don't need to go into detail about how much they liked to shoot the ball and how they'd occassionally try to take the ball from one another not realizing they were stealing from their own teammate. It was pretty funny to watch! Keller didn't score a basket the first 3 games but played his little heart out week after week.
Game 4 rolled around and #41 was determined to turn things around. He scored 8 points that game and then doubled his points the following week with a season high 16 points. Look out Dirk! I'm pretty sure having Uncle Larry in the audience had something to do with that performance because he was showing off the entire game. He even went as far as doing Jason Terry's signature move, the "JET", after he scored a basket. Can you tell he's spent one too many nights in front of the TV watching the Mavs play? He's such a little sports nut.
We are so proud of our little dribbler and the entire Texans basketball team. For a group of 5 and 6 year olds with little to zero basketball experience, I'd say they turned out to be pretty good. Way to go boys on an AWESOME season!
Basketball is over but Keller is in full baseball mode and Kase is gearing back up for tennis so it looks like I'll be spending the next few months sitting in bleachers, cheering on two of the cutest little superstars in town. Thank goodness those are outside sports so I can take my camera and not worry about my stupid lens/flash not cooperating with me.
