After winning game 6 last week 25-14 against a group of very large and questionable 5&6 year olds,
the Texans suffered their first loss of the season against the Horns Tuesday night. Yuck, I just got a little sick typing that. I don't mind losing (sometimes) but I sure don't want to lose to a team named after the Longhorns. Any other team would've been fine! Our boys were a little rusty on defense the first 2 innings and I'm convinced it was a result of the cooler temps. They weren't used to playing in 50 degree weather so it took them a little time to get going.
By the 3rd inning, their games faces were on and they were fighting hard but came up short in the end.
It was a great game and I think the boys need to learn what it's like to be on the losing end but it sure is hard, especially for the crazy moms screaming in the stands. We were cheering so loud that I ended up w/a scratchy voice and a slight headache. Keller divided his time b/w catcher and 3rd base. The highlight of the night was watching him catch his first pop fly or "line drive" as he likes to call it. Sweet boy was so surprised when he looked down and realized the ball was actually in his glove. Such a precious moment to see your child accomplish something he's been talking about doing all season long. I seriously thought I was going to cry! As if that wasn't exciting enough, he ended up getting the game ball for his performance on 3rd combined w/a couple of good base hits.
Talk about proud...my heart was about to explode.
We have three games left in the regular season and then it's tournament time. If you need us in November, you're sure to find us at the ballpark cheering for our Texan boys!
