Trick or Treat

Halloween 2011 is over but the memories will be with us for months to come. It was a night full of tricks, treats, and lots of sweets as we spent the evening w/family, wonderful neighborhood friends and these two precious little people...Ninja and Evil Jester.

We had dinner together and then set off on our trick or treat hayride. It's become an annual tradition and something the boys start talking about long before Halloween. Mike took it up a notch this year and really went all out w/the trailer decorations. I'm sure we were mistaken for the Griswold's as we made our way through the neighborhood. The kids loved it and I'm pretty sure the adults had just as much fun as the kids. I know these two did. Can you guess which one belongs to our family?

The highlight of the night was watching the kids as they experienced their first Haunted House together. I use the term "Haunted House" loosely as it was actually set up in the front yard, entry way and dining room area of a home. The couple have been doing it for years but this is the first year the kids were brave enough to take a tour. Keller opted to stay on the trailer but surprisingly enough, Kase was up for it.

His only request was that I go with him...and thank goodness I did because he was terrified and screamed as soon as the first person jumped out at him. Actually, they all screamed...and very loudly! I tried assuring them they were just people in costumes but that didn't seem to help much. I'll admit, at one point, I was actually trying to calm myself (and keep from wetting my pants) b/c it was a little scary. We did eventually make it through and no one has complained of nightmares so I'd say our first haunted house was a success. However, I'm not sure anyone will ask to do it again next year.

The kids ended up with entirely too much candy but believe me when I say, it will all get eaten ...especially those tiny little boxes of milk duds!

What a fun night for all of us...we're already looking forward to next year!
