Out with the old, in with the new!

Foot attire...that is! I had my post-op appointment yesterday and b/c I was a good patient for 2 weeks, they took this aweful thing off....
and BAM...this is what I saw!!

I must say I wasn't prepared for such a large incision so I was a little light-headed when they took the bandage off. The stitches came out...ouch, that hurt! After X-rays, they brought in my new kicks...

This one is not only more comfortable; it can be taken off so I can FINALLY drive. I was also able to take my first shower this morning...and ohhhhh, was it wonderful. I LOVE nice long baths but not when you have to hang your leg outside of the tub and wash your hair under the faucet. I survived and looking back now, it hasn't really been that bad! Anyhow...this fancy black boot has to be worn for 2 weeks and then I'll be back in my shoes. Don't you think I deserve a couple new pairs? I certainly do and the Nordstrom half-yearly sale just so happens to start today...the timing couldn't be better. I can drive, I can walk and now I can shop...yippee! I must say Tony was kind enough to take me to Target but the scooter went at the pace of an ant so I was too frustrated to shop. Surprise, I know. Speaking of Tony, he has been the most wonderful caretaker the past 2 weeks. He has waited on me hand and foot, taken excellent care of the boys, kept up w/the housework and still managed to have a great attitude.
We are truly blessed to call him husband and daddy!
