{Warning: I'm full of words so lengthy post will follow}
Today was not only "Good Friday"; it was a great "Good Friday". We were out of school today so Keller and I spent the morning together and then went to eat lunch w/Kase at school. I'm sad that I'm not able to do that more often but w/me working in Mesquite, a 30 minute lunch w/Kase turns into an hour and a half or longer b/c of the drive back and forth. I'm very excited about the possibility of that changing next year but I won't know anything definite until next week...fingers crossed and prayers going up daily! After lunch, I dropped Keller off at home so he and daddy could do some yard work while I ran a few errands. Tony usually picks up Kase from school but since I was off today, I was able to do it. I was waiting at the crosswalk when he came outside and he was grinning from ear to ear. Of course, I "assumed" it was b/c I was there but I quickly discovered he had great news and couldn't wait to share it w/someone. Luckily today, that someone was me. To make a very long story short...Kase was one of three students in his class that were chosen to read their "Easter" paper to the principal. They had to walk down to the office by themselves and read what they had written in class. His paper was chosen b/c he had good handwriting and perfect spelling. Upon hearing this, I immediately felt a knot form in my throat and w/in 5 seconds the "happy tears"were coming. Once we made it to the car, he pulled all of his papers out of his backpack for me to read; he was so proud of himself {as was I}. We just sat in the car for a few minutes while I soaked up the moment. What a blessing that I was the one to pick him up today; thank you God for timing that just right. You always know what this mommy needs! As soon as we got home, Kase ran inside to tell daddy. I think Tony was a little nervous b/c Kase started out by saying he went to the principals office. He looked up at me and I had tears in my eyes {again} so I think he thought Kase was in trouble. Tony doesn't associate the principals office w/anything good so he was a little confused. Needless to say, we are both extremely proud of our little scholar. He's been blessed w/an amazing teacher and has such a strong desire to learn and grow. Only if we could bottle it up and save it for Keller!
We celebrated Kase's good news by going to see Monsters vs. Aliens. It was a super cute movie but let me just say, we will not be taking Keller back to the movies until he's 17 years old. He isn't a movie watcher and we should've known better than to think he'd sit still for an hour and 36 minutes...ha, ha on us! He loved the popcorn and video games but the movie just didn't interest him.
On a side note, he thought we were going to see a movie about monster trucks so he was a bit disappointed from the beginning. Despite wanting to pull my hair out strand by strand, it was a fun evening and a learning experience for us!
Hope you've had a wonderful Good Friday and...
