We're two weeks into our summer vacation and I have enjoyed every single "sweet" moment of it. Well, w/the exception of Lily Pearl and her little accident. We've been busy the past week and a half with Kase's social calendar birthday parties, VBS, trying to prepare for our upcoming trip, playing in the backyard every single afternoon, spending time w/special friends and nursing our poor little Lily Pearl back to good health.
She's scheduled for surgery tomorrow so please send up some puppy prayers if you think about it. It's a low risk surgery but she does have to be put to sleep for it and you know I'm not a big fan of anyone being "put under"...dogs included!
We spent Saturday running around trying to get a few last minute things purchased before our Sea World trip. Important things like black Converse hi-tops.
Somehow we ended up on Knox St. Hmmm...wonder who drove that day? In all honesty, we did need to get a new mattress but according to Tony, I drove past 7 other mattress stores but kept right on going. What can I say? I was a woman on a mission and Weir's was calling my name! We ended up getting a great deal on a mattress {see I knew all along what I was doing}, found some cute beach towels, had a nice lunch at OTB
and then grabbed a yummy treat at the Soda Fountain afterwards. The highlight of the day for Keller was getting to eat "totillos" and "doing his paperwork" in the "workbook" that daddy bought for him at "Wal-mick". Kase, well let's just say his day didn't turn out so good b/c "mean mommy" wouldn't buy him a $30 dinosaur book. Such a tragedy!
Luckily for him, his night turned out better since he was able to spend it at a birthday pool party. Several of his kindergarten classmates were there so they were excited to see one another again!
I think it's safe to say little Miss Hannah is one of his faves.
They spent a lot of time swinging together and according to another parent, they were all running around playing the "kissing game". Seriously, in kindergarten? I thought those of the opposite sex had cooties up until at least the 5th grade. I overheard Hannah telling Kase that she loved him so that was also a little bit shocking but then again; I can't say that I blame her. He's easy to love!
Kase finally reached the age requirement to attend VBS at our church and let me tell you, he's taking it all in and loving every minute of it.
I volunteered to help this year which also meant Keller was able to join in on the fun. He's going to pre-school "bible school" and he thinks he's big stuff.
It's been a very fun and fulfilling experience for the three of us and what an amazing opportunity for the 2000+ kids in attendance. Nothing is more exciting than walking into the auditorium and looking out at all the children singing and dancing along to the worship songs and knowing that God is at work in the lives of so many young children. At the urging of Kase, we "had" to buy the VBS Swamp Songs CD today. We've already listened to it 1o times today and I'm sure we'll hear it at least 10 more before bedtime. He sings it full on w/hand motions and everything. So cute and such sweet music to my ears. Everything about summer is so "sweet" and I'm thinking I could really get used to the "sweetness" of it all.
