all about "me"...

Kase's 1st project for the year was to create a "me" bag.

All of our high school speech teachers do this assignment the first week of school so I was familiar with the idea and couldn't wait to see what Kase chose for his bag. He had a week to do the assignment but of course, he got started right away. Decorating his bag w/stickers, foam shapes, and a little bit of doodling here and there. I probably don't need to mention that my favorite sticker is the one that says "momma's boy".

I promise he did that all on his own! Next up was stuffing the bag full of goodies. I offered suggestions but after getting told no five times; I decided to be quiet and let him do his thing. Within 10 minutes, he was done and ready to share his bag w/the rest of us. His speech went a little something like this....

Stickers-"I like to go to my grammer and papa's house. The dolphins are b/c I went to Sea World this summer. The At is b/c I like to go to school and learn. This one {pointing to Momma's boy} is b/c I really am a momma's boy."

Book-"I like to read books."

Cow-"My favorite animal is a cow." {Something new I learned that day.}

Marker-"I'm an artist and like to draw and color things."

HSM iPod-"I like to listen to music and dance."

Baseball magnet-"Baseball is my favorite sport."

Lego car-"I like to play w/my legos and build cars and lots of other things. I'm going to have a lego birthday party." {Wasn't aware of that until now.}

Hot wheel-"Me and Keller play cars together." {Awww, how sweet that he included brother.}

Timer-"My mom turns on the timer when it's almost time for bed. It tells me how many minutes I have left to play or watch tv."

His presentation was great and apparently the teacher thought so too b/c he earned a smiley face and a check plus. Just in case you don't know, Kase will gladly tell you that means a 100 in 1st grade! Way to go Kase...we are so proud of you and can't wait to see how the contents of your "me" bag change as you grow this year. Please promise me the "momma's boy" sticker will be on there forever!
