A couple of weeks ago, we took the boys and one of Kase's friends to cheer on the Yellowjackets as they battled the Heath Hawks. The kids wanted McDonald's so we drove through to pick up happy meals for their tailgate party prior to the game.
We had a little picnic in the back of Tony's truck and then it was off to the stadium.
It's been awhile since we've been to a game but the minute we sat down, I couldn't help but think back to the many wonderful memories that were made on that very same field. Instead of wearing jeans and an orange shirt, I was proudly wearing a flashy Stingerette uniform, hair in a bun held back with a hair net and make-up meant for a Vegas show. They no longer wear the blue eyeshadow, white triangles and fire engine red lipstick nor do they wear their hair up but the uniforms are still as sparkly as ever. I must admit I was a little sad thinking about the fact that I don't have a little girl to experience that with. However, as soon as the football team ran onto the field,
the sadness was replaced w/a big smile as I imagined my sons one day wearing a Yellowjacket jersey {for any sport}, running a flag up and down the field, playing in the band {did I really just say that?} or being the crazy boys w/their chests and faces painted orange cheering like crazy for their team. My only wish is that whatever they decide to do; the experience will be just as special as mine was and that the memories will last them a lifetime. The game didn't end in our favor but we were with some new, great friends and had fun cheering for the Yellowjackets. And after all, that's why we went in the first place.
