fun at the fair

Last week was Kase's fair day. Tony was already on vacation so Keller and I skipped out on work/preschool and spent the day together at the fair. For one reason or another we missed it last year so the boys were even more anxious about going this year. It definitely showed on their faces the minute we exited and they saw the big ferris wheel. They were grinning from ear to ear and talked about what games they were going to play and which rides they were going to ride. Our first stop was the petting zoo and barnyard area. I took pictures while Kase and Daddy fed the animals.

Keller chose to bang the shovel on the side of the cages in hopes of scaring the animals away.

He did finally get brave enough to share some food but rather than put it in his hand; he gave the sheep the whole cup of food, including the dixie cup.

Tony saw him do it so he was able to pull the cup from the sheeps mouth before he chewed it up. Keller spent the rest of the time observing w/me. After spending $60 on paper tickets, we made our way to the Midway. The boys decided they would ride the motorcycles first.

However, as soon as it took off, Keller began crying out for the lady to stop the ride. He made it around one time and then she had to stop and let him off.

As you can tell, Kase enjoyed the ride w/out little brother. They decided next up would be the boats.

They looked easy so Keller hopped in his little canoe and off he went. Oh no, here we go again...he wanted off before it made it through the first curve. The sweet lady stopped his canoe and let him off. Fourteen wasted tickets later, he finally found something he enjoyed...the bumper cars.

We should've known he needed something a little more aggressive thrilling. He loved crashing into people and even made sound effects as he did so. Tony got comfortable so he could watch Keller use up his tickets on that one ride while Kase and I ventured off to some other rides. Swings, slide, firetrucks, bobsled, monkey maze, pirate ship, airplanes...I think he rode just about everything his height would allow

and even opted to go solo on the roller coaster.

I had more fun than I've ever had, at the fair, just watching him navigate from ride to ride. The smile on his face was contagious and mine never left my face. He was having a blast and really taking it all in. I can honestly say this is the first year I felt like he really got the full effect of the fair. As soon as we said it was time for lunch, he immediately said, "I'm going to eat a corny dog and a funnel cake." That's my boy...those are two of the main reasons I go to the fair but something I decided to skip out on this year. My jeans thanked me later. Despite having to stop a few rides to get this little one off,

the trip was full of excitement, laughter, smiles and fun fair memories. Thank you boys for allowing mommy to be a kid again...even if it meant I had to ride the dirty tea cups and spin around until I was sick to my stomach so dizzy I couldn't see straight. It was worth every second and I can't wait to do it again next year!
