Penguin Parade

For the past 6 weeks, Kase has been one very busy little boy working on his penguin research project. Each child in his class chose a different type of penguin to study; Kase chose the gentoo.

According to his power point, the gentoo is

*amazing
*lives in the Arctic
*30 inches tall and 12 lbs
*eats krill
*is black and white w/black eyes and a reddish-black beak
*fast swimmers
*females are smaller than males
*has a white chest w/black wings and tan feet
*it's enemies are leopard seals and elephant seals

In celebration of their hard work, the entire first grade put on a "Penguin Parade" for the students and parents. We lined the halls and watched as they proudly waddled their way through the hallway in their homemade penguin costumes.

After the parade, the parents were invited back to the class to see their childs folder full of things they've been working on the past 6 weeks. Then we took a trip to the computer lab to view their power points.

Whoa...I was completely blown away. Talk about impressive. They were incredible and Kase's power point is better than anything I've ever done; therefore, I wasn't at all surprised when I got home and saw his grading rubric... a 1oo!

Way to go Kase....you are so smart and we couldn't be more proud of our little "Gentoo". Keep up the great work. We love you precious one!
