a little late on the 4th

The 4th of July didn't pass us by w/out a celebration; I'm just running a little behind on posting about it. Not sure what it is but I just haven't really been "feeling it" the past couple of weeks. I take plenty of pictures and have good intentions of blogging but I get on the computer, catch up on all my favorites and then I'm too tired to post on ours. I know, a little bit backwards...just being honest. We went on our family vacation two weeks ago and I still can't bring myself to do that post b/c it's so overwhelming; I don't know where to start. Too many pictures and so much to talk about that I'm afraid it may turn into more of a chapter than a blog post. Blah, blah, blah...I'll get it done in due time.

The 4th is always a fun time for our family but I was extra excited about it this year. Two of our special friends were having parties, one on Saturday and the other Sunday. Our weekend was all planned out and we couldn't wait to spend the day w/our friends and their families. Boo-hoo on rain b/c it cancelled both of them. Lucky for us, one has already been rescheduled for August and is now going to be a "We love America" party. Gotta love friends who realize the value of a kid-friendly party. As for the yucky ol' rain, yes I know we needed it! We have cracks in our yard big enough for someone to fall in but couldn't it have waited until after the 4th? Instead of swimming, playing sand volleyball, barbecuing, roasting marshmallows and chatting it up w/great friends, we spent the day shopping, napping, playing

and popping fireworks at Papa and Grammar's house.

Once the sun set, it was off to the park to watch fireworks.

Although the rain ruined our original plans, we sure didn't let it get in the way of a fun and festive 4th of July celebration!

The picture above is the perfect example of why I'm usually behind the lens and not in front of it. Daddy needs a little practice getting us all to look in the same direction at the same time. I'll give him credit, he's learning...slowly but surely!
