Triple Crown World Series

It's not World Series time in the major leagues just yet but it is time for the 7u World Series in Texas...and that's where we've been.  Actually, it was a week ago that we spent 4 full days watching our favorite boy in blue and his teammates battle it out on the field at Oak Grove Park in Grapevine.

It was a week we won't forget but talk about some serious heat; I thought we were going to suffocate out there.

The moms kept wondering when one of the boys was going to ask if they had to play anymore because it was so hot...that never happened so we must have been the only ones complaining about the ridiculously hot temperatures.  Now I remember why I gave up softball for drill team in middle school...it's just too darn hot for outside sports.  We drank so much water and Gatorade that it's a wonder we didn't float away.  All I can say is whoever invented Frog Togs and spray bottle fans is a genius!  They were lifesavers for the boys.  Although, I left the field everyday exhausted and soaked from sweat, I couldn't wait to go back the next day and cheer for #19...my adorable pitcher/catcher.

He makes it all worth it!

The boys started the tournament looking like the bad news bears as they lost their first two games.  Day 2 rolled around and they were determined to get back on track and did just that.  When it mattered most, they stepped up, played their very best and ended up with a 2nd place finish.

Not too bad for a bunch of 6 year old boys playing in a 7u World Series.  Needless to say, the coaches and parents were so proud of the boys for having the best attitudes and playing so hard despite the heat and tough competition.  It was a memorable experience for the boys and now that they know what it's like to play in a World Series, they are counting down the days to Sulphur, Louisiana.  Goody bags have been stuffed, Mohawks are dyed blue, trading pins and parade shirts have arrived, uniforms are washed and ready, bags are almost packed; it will soon be time to head south...can't wait to spend another week with our teammates and friends.  One more World Series tournament and baseball season is over...at least until Fall ball starts in September.

Finish strong 6u Texans...those 1st place trophies are calling your names!
