trick-or-treat

After such a fun and memorable Halloween last year, the moms and dads decided it needed to become a tradition...and so it did. Our evening started off at the Smith's with a little neighborhood cook-out. After dinner, we made some minor adjustments and put finishing touches on costumes before taking our seats on the trailer for the Halloween hayride.

A few new friends joined us this year, as well as Papa and Grammer.

I was so glad they were able to spend the evening w/us and I know the boys thought it was really neat having them along for the ride. It also meant they had someone on their side when they wanted to eat "just one more piece of candy."

Speaking of candy, I can't tell you how precious it was to watch as the kids raced up to the door, rang the doorbell, said the magic words and waited patiently for their treats. It was too, too sweet.

In less than an hour, bags and buckets were full and the kids were starting to fade fast so we drove around to look at Halloween decorations and then called it a night.

What a fun night~we are so thankful for our special friends {and family} and look forward to many more years of trick-or-treating together.

Hope all of you had a happy Halloween and that your will power is stronger than mine when it comes to saying no to the candy sitting in the bowl on your kitchen counter!
