8 is great

In the blink of an eye, our first born son is now 8 years old...and 1/2 way to 16. Oh goodness, I get nervous just thinking about it.

Kase is all about Lego's so what better way to celebrate than w/a Lego Mania party. A lot of Lego's and some very special guests made it an unforgettable day for the birthday boy.

The weather leading up to the party wasn't the greatest but fortunately, the temps were above freezing so the snow and ice from the week before melted enough that his friends were able to make it. Thank goodness b/c he was a little worried that the weather was going to ruin his special day. The kids were out of school for 4 days and stuck inside most of the week so they had A LOT of energy the day of the party....and didn't waste any time releasing that energy in our home.

It was wild, crowded and crazy but we loved every single minute of it. The parents visited while the kids played a few Lego themed games, had an indoor picnic lunch and devoured yummy cupcakes and cake balls.

I wanted to make sure they had as much energy when they left as they did when they arrived so they were treated to all the sugary goodness their hearts desired. After cupcakes, they slowed down long enough for presents. Kase's friends were so generous w/their gift selection; loading him up w/cash and gift cards. Guess the wish lists are changing and toys are becoming a thing of the past.

Is it really already time for that? Grammar and Papa gave him a Kindle so the gift cards were used for books as soon as everyone left.

The cash lasted long enough for us to make it to Target so he could purchase an iPod touch. Does this sound a little backwards to anyone else but me? I have an old $45 iPod shuffle and my 8 year old has an iPod touch and a kindle. I don't think I can keep up these technologically savvy kids anymore!

Happy Birthday to our precious, smart, tender hearted, first born son. Eight short years ago, daddy and I discovered a love that neither of us knew existed. You continue to melt our hearts daily and not a day goes by that we don't look at each other and smile b/c we are so proud of you and the young man you're becoming. We are honored to be your parents and can't wait to spend many more special days celebrating you. I love you sugar bug!
