Baseball season ended so what's next on our sports calendar? Basketball!
Keller played a couple years ago and didn't really care much for the sport so we haven't signed him up to play since then. As a matter of fact, he told us he "never wanted to play again because he was only a baseball player." Enter his t-ball coach and that changed everything. Coach Danny decided to put a team together and Keller jumped all over the idea and was ready to go. Several of his t-ball friends play on the team so that just made it even better.
Practices started a couple weeks ago and they had their first game this past Saturday.
Unfortunately, the other team didn't have enough players so they had to forfeit. We were already at the gym and most of the dads were already on the court shooting so the coach decided to scrimmage, dads against sons.
It was so cute to watch but didn't end well for Tony, as he pulled his calf muscle when he went up for a shot. Within 3 minutes, it was swollen and he could barely walk. I felt sorry for him but reminded him that he wasn't 24 anymore and that there are just some things you have to leave to the younger generations. He assured me he was in shape and still had a lot of good playing days ahead. Whatever you say honey, whatever you say! On a serious note, it's such a blessing and it warms my heart to know Keller has a dad that wants to be involved and will spend countless hours at practices, games and working with him at home. I know there are many children that don't have that and it breaks my heart because I see how much it means to Kase and Keller. It's no surprise God knows what we need in life and he was right on when he blessed me with two little boys! There's nothing sweeter than being a boymom.
The Texans are back in action after the Christmas break and #41 will be ready to go. Until then, we'll cheer on our Dallas Mavericks because it looks as though they'll need it.
