I offered to help him count them out but he wanted to do it all by himself. Of course, I stayed close by in case he missed one and I'm so glad I did. Not b/c he needed my help but I was surprised at how he organized his thoughts. Rather than count one at a time, he made 10 stacks of ten...WOW!!
I found out Monday that I had a mandatory meeting on Friday at 2:30 so that meant I would have to miss Kase's Valentine's party at school....sniff, sniff! I was so relieved when daddy said he would take off to go. Since I couldn't be a part of his special day, I made sure we spent time together filling out his cards and stuffing his goodie bags. No matter what we're doing together, I'm always watching him w/a smile on my face. I am so very proud of the independent little boy he's becoming but at the same time miss the days when he relied so heavily on me for certain things. On this day, he didn't want my help at all...not even to lick the envelopes for him!

He must've known Mommy was feeling a little blue about missing his party b/c he brought me home not one, but 2 handmade Valentine cards from school. They were the most precious cards I've ever received. I think it's safe to say I'm still his #1 Valentine...even if I did miss his Kindergarten Valentine party!
