Today is such an exciting day for kids so our little firecrackers were up bright and early ready to go get some fireworks. Keller came running into our room about 6:45 and the first words out of his mouth were; "Mommy, you ready? We pop fireworks today!" I wasn't quite ready then but after a trip to the firework stand, we are definitely ready now.
Daddy and the boys picked out their favorites while I walked around looking at the ridiculous prices on some of the fireworks. They had one that was $148...WHAAAAAT???? Who on Earth spends that kind of money on something that only lasts 10 seconds? Tony said they're for professionals and fortunately for us, we are not. I know they're beautiful and I'm sure we'll see a few tonight at the firework show; but for now, we'll enjoy our drunk monkey's {can't wait to see what those do}, sparklers, roman candles, bottle rockets, poppers and Kase's all time favorites, jumping jacks, army tanks and egg laying hens.
As for Keller, his favorites were found outside of the firework stand.
They are called rocks and "you can throw them like this".
{until Mommy tells you no}
We wish you a safe, happy and sparkling 4th of July. Whether you're throwing rocks, playing at the park, having a picnic, watching a parade, popping fireworks, having a BBQ and eating homemade ice cream or just taking it easy; please take a minute to stop and say a prayer for our nation and those who serve to protect it. They sacrifice their lives daily and, in doing so, allow us to live in "the land of the free and home of the brave".
And I'm proud to be an American,where at least I know I'm free.And I won't forget the men who died,who gave that right to me.
