Fun filled 4th...

I can't believe the 4th has come and gone. It seems like we just put out our decorations and now it's over...what a bummer that I have to take it all down. From the looks of the aisles at Hobby Lobby, I guess they're recommending we start decorating for Fall and Christmas. That's several months away but I know it will be here in the blink of an eye. As will the end of my summer vacation and the first day of school for our little 1st grader. I am so not ready for any of it but I will gladly welcome the cooler temperatures that come w/the change of seasons. For now, we'll continue to smolder away in the 100 degree temperature and try our hardest to have fun while doing it; just like we did yesterday. It was hot but our 4th was full of fun for everyone.

First up on the agenda was the firework stand{see previous post}. After that we grabbed a quick breakfast and then headed to Grammar's to reserve our spot on the lawn for the city parade.

The kids enjoyed seeing the dogs and horses but were very upset that it only lasted about 10 minutes.

I must admit it was a little disappointing but I'm sure the temperatures kept some people from participating. I mean, who wants to walk several miles, pedal a bike or wear a hot costume for an hour or more on a 100 degree day when they don't have too? Certainly not me and I'm sure the Chick-fil-A cow is still trying to cool off from yesterday.

After the parade, we came home so the boys could take a nap and get ready for the 2nd half of the day. Tony decided to nap w/them so I decided it would be a great time for me to run out and shop all by myself. I wasn't gone long but somehow I came home w/more than I expected to. I don't know why I make a list of things to get b/c Target gets me every time. The boys woke up from naps raring to go so we filled up the pool and off they went. They swam and swam and swam until they were all pruned up.

It was starting to get dark so we headed in for a quick bath and then it was time for fireworks. We illegally popped some at our house and then loaded up and drove over to Dobbs to get a good seat for the city firework show.

We had to make a quick stop at "7-8" so the kids could get a Slurpee for the road. There were people everywhere but luckily we were early enough that we didn't have to fight the crowd.

The fireworks were beautiful but I never could figure out which one was the $148 one. Maybe I saw it and just didn't realize it was the one. Nevertheless, it was everything a firework show should be; fun, COLORFUL,

EXPLOSIVE

SPARKLY and according to Keller, go "boom boom pow". What can I say? He and his daddy like Fergie's new hit!

The kids had a great time and were a little disappointed when it was over. However, the frowns quickly turned to smiles once Aunt Bubba told them we'd be shooting fireworks at Papa and Grammar's house tonight. To a child, nothing beats getting to do something fun 2 days in a row!
