Taking a break

Yes, we're still alive and kicking over here. We just took a little blog break. I could sense the boys were tired of seeing me w/my camera so I decided to give them a break, which also meant I took a little break from blogging b/c what's a blog post w/out pics? Lots has happened since my last post so I'll try to play catch up for the sake of the blog book I hope to create one day for the boys. I will definitely not be including the picture of me pouring gas into Tony's truck but I will share the story. Yes, you heard me right. I most certainly did run out of gas on the way home from Canton. Thankfully, Morgan and 2 of our friends were about 30 minutes ahead of me so they turned around, stopped at a gas station and brought me 2 very expensive cans of gas. I've never in my life spent $25 on 2 gallons of gas and I hope to never do it again. In my defense, that was the 1st time I've ever run out of gas and I really don't think it would've happened had I been in my own car. My light blinks so there's no way you can overlook it. The worst part about the whole thing was that I knew I needed gas. I even stopped at a gas station on the way down for water but told myself I'd wait until afterwards to get it since I had a 1/4 of a tank left. Little did I know at that time, that I would be so excited about my Canton finds that I would hop in the car, drive around to load our stuff and never think about checking the gas gauge again. Until I was on the phone w/Tony and the gas pedal wouldn't depress and the steering tightened up. Honestly, I thought his truck was breaking down and then he said, "the gas pedal isn't working b/c you don't have any gas." Oh really, is that how that works? I will tell you he handled it beautifully, never once making me feel stupid for running out of gas. Although, I'm pretty sure he was thinking that and other things as well; he never said a word and called to check on me at least 10 times. As for me, I just sat in a burning hot truck, checked my emails, read a few blogs and waited patiently for my little sister to come save the day. It really did turn out to be pretty humorous and thanks to Morgan, I have a few pics to remind me of the day I ran out of gas. However, those pictures will never be published on the blog or anywhere else for that matter...unless Morgan can figure out my password to post them b/c I know she's desperately trying. Thanks again Morg for being a great sister, even though you stood and laughed at me the whole time!

Kase attended Lego camp last week so he is now quite the expert when it comes to building things. I must say I am very impressed w/his ability to build things just by using his imagination. I, on the other hand, need step by step instructions. He is so creative and such a joy to sit and watch.

Keller wants to spend every waking moment outside on his lawn mower. We usually spend the 1st part of our morning outside b/c it's a little bit cooler then. Cooler as in 95 instead of 105.

Both of the boys have recently taken a liking to their portable DVD players and can often be found in their favorite spot watching a movie or listening to a CD.

I am so glad they love the headphones b/c that gives me a little break from the noise that comes from having 2 little boys running around the house. They are so much fun but they are loud!

In other big news, Papa surprised the grandkids w/a brand new 4 wheeler. It's a battery powered one but it won't be long until Keller is ready for the real deal. He hops on the minute we pull up and rides until the battery runs out.

He does offer rides to Kase and every once in awhile, he'll get off and let Kase have a turn.

Kase enjoys it but he'd much rather be playing inside where it's cool. Presley won't even look at it so basically, it is all Keller! Thank you Papa for introducing Keller to the exciting world of off-road toys. It won't be long until I hear you outside coaching him to "go hard and turn left". I can't wait for him to experience the race track w/you for the very first time. That was always a special time for us and I know it will be for the two of you!

I can't believe our summer is quickly coming to an end. Kase and I have already been shopping at Grammer's store for school supplies and the two of us went to Nordstrom on Monday to shop the anniversary pre-sale. He thought it was so cool that Michelle {our friend that works there} took him to the back so he could pick out what he wanted. Believe me, he did the picking b/c everything I picked up was a "no". When it comes to clothes, he has a mind of his own and knows what he wants...right down to his favorite kind of hat.

This year, I decided to sit back, bite my tongue and let him make the selections; even if it meant a few of my favorites were left hanging on the rack. Guess I should know by now that a shirt w/a monkey playing a guitar is much cooler than a black button up.

Keller, on the other hand, will wear anything I pick out and it usually makes no difference to him if he has it on the right way. He frequently wears his underwear on backwards and his pants inside out. As long as he has on one item of clothing, he's good to go. Most of the time, that item is a top but this particular day happened to be pants.

Short shorts and all, Keller is such an easy going little guy w/not a care in the world! What I would give to be a kid all over again...so sweet, innocent, and full of life every second of every day. Thank you Lord for blessing me w/not one, but two precious children who remind me of the simple things in life that matter most. What a gift they truly are!
