As I sat down to type this post, the tears started falling. Tears of joy mixed w/tears of sadness as we say goodbye to summer 2009. What a summer it's been!! I honestly can't think of a summer that's been more memorable to me than this one.
We didn't go on any extravagant vacations or do anything anymore special than we've done the past 6 summers but for some reason, it was the simple things that mattered most this summer. Things like waking up and eating "wucky charms" together, playing out in the backyard in the early morning hours, swimming and running through the sprinkler, eating popsicles several times a day, going to the "mall w/turtles and ducks", lunch dates w/daddy, staying up late watching movies or playing games, riding bikes, spending time w/wild and crazy Presley {and the rest of our family}
and the many other things that filled our summer days and nights. Our trip to Sea World and the beach were full of memorable moments but honestly, the boys had just as much fun filling up buckets of water and running through the sprinkler at Morgan's house. So, to commemorate the end of our summer vacation, we spent the afternoon doing just that. The boys took one last run through the sprinkler
and then we came home, picked out our clothes for the week, and said goodnight a little bit earlier than we have the past 2 1/2 months. Now we say goodbye to summer w/heavy hearts but full of wonderful memories to last us a lifetime.
Kase and Keller, thank you for making this an unforgettable summer. You never cease to amaze me at how you find the beauty of God's gift right in front of you; while others spend countless hours searching for it. Both of you spent the summer, unknowingly, reminding me that the simple things in life really do matter most. I am so grateful for that gift. You are truly a blessing and I love both of you w/every ounce of my being!
