The rainy weather ended, fall temperatures were upon us and we were finally able to take in our first football game of the season last Friday. It was homecoming so Tony brought the boys to the game a litte bit early to see the pre-game festivities. I was already on the field w/some of my former cheerleaders {yes, I was crazy enough at one time to be a high school cheer sponsor} so the boys joined me down on the sidelines.
Keller was in complete awe for a few minutes b/c this was his first time on a football field. He loves to watch it on TV but this time the action was right in front of him. Several of the players came over to give him a high five and he just stared at them in complete shock. To a three year old, there isn't a difference b/w Tony Romo and a high school quaterback so he thought they were the players he'd been watching on TV. He was starstruck but it didn't take him long before he was giving high fives, "knuckles" and running up and down the end zone scoring his own touchdowns. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get pictures since I had to put the camera down so I could chase my little football player around. Bet that was a funny site for the fans!
As you can tell, he wasn't happy about returning to the stands. Kase, on the other hand, wasn't as interested in the football players as he was the music being played by the band. He also enjoyed the cheerleaders, especially Jazzy the Jaguar.

We sat by the band and drill team so the boys spent most of the night dancing w/the other teachers kids. They had such a good time and it made it easy for us to watch the game. I think we'll make that our permanent spot but pack ear plugs next time b/c my ears were ringing. Is that a sign of old age? Keller turned on his charm and got one of the drill team girls to loan him pom poms so he turned out to be quite the entertainer for the night. Daddy didn't think it was near as funny as the rest of us but Keller assured him he was going to be a "football boy" and not a "cheer gurl".

The cheering must've worked b/c the Jags were once again victorious {in overtime} and are now 4-0. One of my students scored the winning TD and another one led the team in tackles so that was the highlight of the night. They were still beaming when I saw them on Monday! Sharing moments like that w/kids is another simple reminder of why I love my job.
We had a great time and anxiously await our next football game. However, next time we'll be cheering on our hometown team and my alma mater. Thank goodness they're not in the same district b/c it would be hard for me to chose b/w the two. So next week, we'll take off our red, put on our orange and cheer for the Yellowjackets!
