Memorial Day

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.~Joseph Campbell

This past Sunday, we packed our cooler, loaded up our floats and headed down to Uncle Carl & Aunt Elaine's house for some memorial day fun w/the family. The boys were going to try their luck at fishing but decided they'd rather spend the day in the water.

I kinda thought that would happen once we got there. Fine w/me b/c I was secretly worried about Keller slipping off into the lake. For someone who has less than perfect water skills, he is a little too confident and has no fear when it comes to lakes and creeks. Even w/a lifejacket, it still makes me a tiny bit nervous. He does exercise some caution in and around the pool so I don't have to hover near as closely. Well, actually I still do...I can't help it!

Keller enjoyed playing in the pool w/his new Toy Story float but was even more excited when he found out Uncle Carl had a football that could go in the water w/him!

Kase jumped in and took off but was very mindful of his boundaries. He's definitely our cautious child.

What a fun day it was staying cool in the pool,

visiting w/family, eating barbeque, watching the kids play and remebering those who afford us the freedom to enjoy the day as we please. A big thanks to the many men and women who sacrifice their own lives to protect ours. They truly exemplify what it means to be a hero. We are so blessed to call our home "one nation under God with liberty and justice for all"!
