Day 2 of Galveston

So now, here we are...day 2 of our little vacation...in Galveston...at the beach...staying at a resort w/a fabulous pool...and we can't go swimming. Ha~that's funny!

Fortunately, for the boys and I, there were other things to do to pass the time besides sit in our hotel room and play duck-duck-goose. We woke up, ate a nice breakfast at our hotel and then headed off to explore Moody Gardens. After looking at the brochure of things to do, we settled on the Happy Feet 4D movie...

and the rainforest.

Yep, of all the things to do, those were the only two that interested the boys. Kase recently visited the Dallas Aquarium so he wasn't up for that again. Keller was with us and he let us know very loud and clear that he was not going to see the Oceans IMAX movie. It requires you to sit still and be quiet and neither of those things does he enjoy, nor is he good at doing. So, our time at Moody Gardens was very short lived...and a little disappointing. After talking w/others who've been and reading about it on-line, I expected a little bit more. Perhaps the man made beach or Schlitterbahn across the street would've made the experience a little more exciting but rememeber, we can't do water.

On the way back to the hotel, we stopped off at the Rainforest Cafe for lunch and a quick stroll through the giftshop. Kase is quite the shopper so we have to hit up giftshops anytime we see one...even if it is inside a restuarant. Keller was more than thrilled w/his little monkey and Kase settled on a starfish necklace and peace sign bracelet. Thank you abercrombie kids for introducing my 7 year old to jewelry.

After a wonderful 2 hour nap, we were rested up and ready to join the rest of our friends for an evening of fun. We had another yummy meal on the Seawall...

took a few pictures and shopped on the Strand...

and along the beach...

watched Kase get his first {temporary} tattoo...

danced...

and then capped off the evening w/dessert at the Rainforest Cafe.

Once we arrived back at the hotel, I decided I was sick of not getting to enjoy the pool so we doctored up Keller's boo-boo and headed down for a late night swim. I know, nothing like waiting until the last minute.

Kase spent the majority of his time on that mean ol' slide while Keller and I floated around the pool, making sure we stayed far, far away from the splashers. The kids were so excited about staying up way past their bedtime and swimming in the dark. What a treat!

It was the perfect ending to our fun mini-vacation. Thankfully, the only other accident we encountered the rest of the trip was Kase burning his finger on the sparkler in the volcano dessert. Now that I can handle!

Thanks girls for a fun trip~I had a wonderful time talking, laughing, and watching our precious children run and play together. The hotel room was a tad bit cramped and a little stuffy but we made the best of it and had a great time doing it. I'm already looking forward to next years trip!
